My Role
I was responsible for designing the friends feature, focusing on connection flows and accessibility, and I contributed to the homepage layout and interaction design.
Project Background
Boomer Go is an app designed for baby boomers to help them find events, clubs, and meetups, with the overall goal of reconnecting them to their communities and encouraging the growth of friendships. It is exclusive to adults over 60 and features events that cater to this age range. The clear interface allows users to find events, set reminders, connect with friends, send invites, and more. Boomer Go also features tutorials and accessibility options, ensuring the app can be used by all boomers.
Defining the Problem
Murray is a 72-year-old retiree living on a ranch in a rural area who needs an accessible platform to find social groups and events because he feels disconnected from his local community and lacks the motivation to go out, leaving him feeling isolated. This matters because it allows users to meet new people and to form stronger bonds that might have been impacted due to COVID-19.

Research Direction
We began researching our main competitors (Facebook, Meetup, and Televada) to determine our interview questions. We then conducted six interviews with participants aged 59 - 75 to find the primary cause and potential contributing factors to why baby boomers experience feelings of low motivation and loneliness. It was surprising to see how many of the users' answers differed from what they were actually feeling and what was said during the interview. These findings informed our design decisions, leading us to prioritize accessibility, clear navigation, large text, and features that reduce problems for connecting with friends and attending events.

Research Methods
Multiple research methods were used to complete this project, which consisted of user testing, wireframes, user personas, journey maps, and task flows to guide our design process and ensure the app met user needs.

Design & Rationale
We designed an app for seniors that allows them to form connections and make friendships that were lost due to COVID-19. We designed multiple user interactions/pages in our app, including logging in, settings, tutorials, finding an event and signing up for it, and an add and invite a friend page.

Results and Matrix
I was responsible for designing the add and inviting a friend page. I also created a task flow of finding and signing up for an event. I also worked closely with Lilah and Ella on designing our main homepage for finding an event and signing up for it. I also assisted with prototyping our app.
